Hummus: a name for many dishes

There are many different variations to the basic hummus, including hummus with meat, ful (broad beans), mashrooms, and so on. Also, there are many ways of making hummus and a series of different recipes.


Here are the main varieties of the basic dish:

Hummus (or "humus", "homous" and so on).
The basic dish made of dround cooked chickpeas with tahini, garlic, cumin salt and lemon. Sometimes served with olive oil, chopped parsley and paprika.

Hummus Ful.
The same, but with cooked brown broad beans (”Egyptian ful”) in a doughy texture. It’s usually mixed with cumin, lemon juice and salt.

Mesabha.
Made of the same ingredients as hummus, but with a very different texture. The chickpeas are not ground but mixed with the tahini, olive oil, garlic etc.

Triplet.
Hummus mixed with ful and masabha.
